Sam E. Hester is a professor of Bible and church history at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, where he has taught since 1978. Dr. Hester is also the director of the Christian Training Series, FHU's summer lectureship held in July each year.

Sam E. Hester is a professor of Bible and church history at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, where he has taught since 1978. Dr. Hester is also the director of the Christian Training Series, FHU's summer lectureship held in July each year.
In addition to teaching, brother Hester also preaches for the Crooked Creek congregation in Perry County Tennessee. He owns Hester Publications, which publishes short-run books and booklets. Besides printing new titles for others, he is reprinting some brotherhood books that are out of print, especially those on restoration movement history.
He is married to Phyllis Gardner and they have a daughter, Kristen Hicks.
