Ohio State vs. Florida

title

Yesterday felt like Christmas - with more excitement! Folks came over for dinner and to watch the big game. The first 16 seconds were amazing. Ted Ginn II returned the kickoff 93 yards and the Buckeyes were on their way to showing the SEC what real speed looks like...then Ginn hobbled off the field. EEK! It seems that Roy Hall fell on Ginn's right leg in the end-zone which caused Ginn to then sit out the rest of the game. Bummer.

It was all downhill after that... I think my 92 year old grandmother could have passed for 350 yards, rushed for 150, and sacked Smith 10 times - at least that is how it looked on the tube. Embarrassing! The number 82 keeps coming to mind. "82" - the number of times I was yelling at the television. - the number of times I cried into my tasty taco soup while I watched the Buckeyes get crushed - the number of total offensive yards for the Ohio State Buckeyes! Ugh. 41-14? What? Ugh II.

For all of the excuses I could make it did seem like Florida wanted it more - were prepared - and punished our boys like they were 13 year old girls who showed up in pads after their Brownie meeting. Ugh. So, congratulations to the Gators. You won this time...

I will get back to feasting on my crow...

Quantum Theory...It's Really Weird.

I found this article the other day discussing an experiment where information is sent "back in time."

"If his experiment with splitting photons actually works, says University of Washington physicist John Cramer, the next step will be to test for quantum "retrocausality."

That's science talk for saying he hopes to find evidence of a photon going backward in time." Read Article >>

More can be found here on another site, the abstract of which is below.

The interpretational problems of quantum mechanics are considered. The way in which the standard Copenhagen Interpretation (CI) of quantum mechanics deals with these problems is reviewed. A new interpretation of the formalism of quantum mechanics, the Transactional Interpretation (TI), is presented. The basic element of TI is the transaction describing a quantum event as an exchange of advanced and retarded waves, as implied by the work of Wheeler and Feynman, Dirac, and others. The TI is explicitly nonlocal and thereby consistent with recent tests of the Bell Inequality, yet is relativistically invariant and fully causal. A detailed comparison of the TI and CI is made in the context of well known quantum mechanical gedanken experiments and "paradoxes". The TI permits quantum mechanical wave functions to be interpreted as real waves physically present in space rather than as "mathematical representations of knowledge" as in the CI. The TI is shown to provide insight into the complex character of the quantum mechanical state vector and the mechanism associated with its "collapse". The TI also leads in a natural way to justification of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and the Born probability law [P=(Psi)(Psi)*], basic elements of the CI. Read Article >>

Space Elevator

title

I ran across the concept of a space elevator a while back and recently found an article on Slashdot that discussed it once again; and so I figured I would post it here for all to see (click on the image to the left for a larger view). How keen would it be to have the ability to ride an elevator up into space? And I thought I was afraid of heights on a ski lift...

Wikipedia describes it as "...a theoretical structure designed to transport material from a planet's surface into space. Many different types of space elevators have been proposed. They all share the goal of replacing rocket propulsion with the traversal of a fixed structure via a mechanism not unlike an elevator in order to move material into or beyond orbit." Read more >>

Evolutionists Want it Both Ways

This article was written by Dave Miller with Apologetics Press...

Astronomers from more than 30 research institutions in 15 countries are working together to select a site for a giant telescope that they hope will read TV or radio signals from alien civilizations. Slated to cost one billion dollars, the Square Kilometer Array, or SKA, would be the world.s most powerful radio telescope. Speaking at a conference of the International Society for Optical Engineering in Orlando, Florida, project astronomers said they hope to find .immediate and direct evidence of life elsewhere in...
