Home
I have been a teacher at Freed-Hardeman University since 1978. I currently serve as the Director of Graduate Studies in Education and Professor of Education. My major interests include teaching reading, corrective and remedial reading instruction, instructional strategies for both elementary and secondary students, differentiated instruction, and culturally responsive teaching.
During my tenure at Freed-Hardeman University, I was the recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award for the years of 1995-1998.
Working at Freed-Hardeman has given me the opportunity to meet individuals who directed and coordinated Tennessee's Reading Excellence Grant and Tennessee's Reading First Grant. This interaction has given me the opportunity to receive state and national training as a Reading Cadre for the State of Tennessee.
Working at Freed-Hardeman has also given me the opportunity to conduct numerous professional development workshops and seminars on the local, state, national and international levels, as well as participate in areas of service on these levels.
