In the fall of 1993, Becky Cargile became an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Communication/Literature at Freed-Hardeman University. She taught on a part-time basis until the spring of 1996, when she became a full-time instructor in that department. In the fall of 1997, she began doctoral work at the University of Memphis, and she received her Ed.D. in May 2000. Dr. Cargile is now an associate professor. She typically teaches two sections of English Composition 102, one section of English Literature I, and one section of an upper-division English course (Advanced Traditional Grammar, The Structure of Modern English, or Advanced Composition).
Dr. Cargile is married to Dr. Ken Cargile, the campus doctor and an assistant professor in the Department of Biology. The Cargiles are active members of the Estes congregation in Henderson. Both of the Cargile daughters are grown. Ginger Parks lives in Nashville, where she is a sales rep for Mission Tile. Angie and her husband, David Moore, live in Lebanon, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. David is a sales manager for Titan, a subsidiary of Baker Concrete, and Angie is kindergarten teacher. Angie and David have two sons, Carson (aged 7) and Barrett (aged 4). They are, without a doubt, the best grandsons anyone could ever have. If you need convincing, come by Dr. Cargile's office, and she will show you their pictures. The Cargiles have traveled extensively (one of her hobbies). They have been to numerous places in the contiguous 48 states and to Hawaii, Alaska, Bermuda, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Thailand. Dr. Becky Cargile has also been to Canada, Mexico, Austria, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Bratislava, and the Cayman Islands. Her most recent exciting trip was to London and Stratford, England, in March 2008.
